Unhappy HD200 playback blu-ray after tsmuxer hangs

The HD200 perfectly plays back blu-ray files backed up via AnyDVD.

If I process them with tsmuxer (or clown_bd), it hangs withing a couple minutes of start of playback, requiring a power reset. There were no errors when processing with tsmuxer.

I've tried Vista and txmuxser alone, and tsmuxer on Linux. I've tried eac3to first or not. I've tried not changing any settings, just default options, and also tried blu-ray format (BDMV) or m2ts. I've tried 4 different blu-ray movies.

The hd200 has the latest firmware version. Sage support said there is a problem with the m2ts file. The same file plays on the western digital media player OK.

I also tried stand-alone mode and it hangs too (screen frozen or blank and no remote controls work including power off). I was able to telnet in using debug mode though, and access logs so the unit is not completely locked up.

A lot of people have this working, in this forum, but I'm stumped.

Can anyone help please?

Similar Problen using ClownBD

For what its worth, I have similar problem with ClownBD. I have had decent luck with Blu-rays and Clown but not HDDVDs and Clown. I have not found a solution yet. If/when I do, I'll let you know.

By the way, I have successfully used TSMuxer many times in the past with HDDVDs. Back then I did not use ClownBD and just did everything manually. I recently tried using ClownBD to simplify the process (which it does) and now many of my movies hang. It doesn't seem to matter if I choose to format as an .TS, .m2ts, or a blu-ray folder.

Successful tries with ClownBD (all ripped as a Blu-ray folder):
Blu-ray - The Dark Knight
Blu-ray - Cars
Blu-ray - Horton Hears a Who
Blu-ray - Snow White
Blu-ray - Casino Royale (the video broke up twice during the movie but it never froze)
HDDVD - Transformers

Movies which hang (tried .ts, .m2ts, and blu-ray folder):
HDDVD - Corpse Bride
HDDVD - Fearless
HDDVD - Superman 2
HDDVD - The Mummy
HDDVD - The 40 Year Old Virgin
Blu-ray - Ironman

Everytime the HD-200 hangs, I have to unplug it to reset it. I too have tried the current firmware as well as the current beta firmware with no success. I also tried increasing the Java Heap size with no success. I am beginning to think that ClownBD is doing something wrong.

Good luck, sorry I can't be of help.

Sagetv support analyzed one the the files, and said "...the file you uploaded
does have the extended hd audio inside the core stream..."

and

"...more recent versions of conversion/muxing programs will keep the information about what is core/extended audio."

Is there a way to adjust tsmuxer to correct this?

Eliminating dts and just sticking with ac3 works in all cases, but dropping the HD audio is not ideal.

Hate to break it to you, but if the HD200 is your only end point, keeping the HD Audio track is a waste of space and time. The HD200 can deal with audio tracks that have a "core" and the HD audio info in one audio track, but can't handle a pure HD Audio track without the "core".

I used to try converting the HD Audio track to AC-3 all the time and add that as a secondary audio track for the HD200s in my setup. I have 3 HD200s and 1 PCH-A110 (for HD Audio only). Lately, I've been noticing a sync problem whenever I have my inserted AC-3 track and HD Audio track.

I've also ben using ToNMT (do a google search) to convert to m2ts dureing rip. Give it a shot as it might clear up your problem.

If you are only using the HD200, I'd suggest converting any HD Audio track to AC-3 and include ONLY that new track. I've never had a problem with that.

Also make sure you've updated tsmuxer to the latest version. I was using clownbd but it had an older version of tsmuxer and was giving similiar issues but after update it is now working properly. I also use the media tank mode which will keep the uncompressed audio file and also convert to AC3 as well.

Eh, might as well put them on, you don't want to have to re-rip all your content if Sage releases new hardware down the road.

So a couple of you have it working. I'm using the latest clown_bd and tsmuxer. I noticed its OK for TrueHd, just not for DTS disks.

I am also using TME (Total media extreme), the one that came with the HDPVR (version 1.0.9.9 I think). eac3to notes say minimum 1.1 is required. I already upgraded via Arcsoft, but it looks like its not going to go any higher version. Maybe this is the issue.

For those of you that got it to work, are you using TMT (total media theater)?

Thanks
