SageMC Configuring to play DVDs (including Blu-Ray)
Hello SageMC forum! This is my first post on a sage forum, I am a recent convert from BeyondTV/BeyondMedia to SageTV via a short time with Windows 7 Media Center.
So far I am very happy with SageTV and the SageMC interface, I also have a HD200 which I am very happy with. I have gotten to the point where all my tuners are up and running (except the obligatory restarts of the HD-PVR ). The thing I need to get working in order to completely get back how I was with Beyond Media and Media Center is the ability to play ripped dvds (including blu-ray) on both my main Sage box and my extender. I apologize if I am asking for information that already exists, but the forums are vast, and somewhat intimidating, even for somebody with several years of HTPC experience like myself. The problem I keep running into is that the forums have a LOT of information, much of which is way out of date, and I find myself getting frustrated trying to find relevant and current information. Ok, so my actual issues I am trying to solve are these: 1) DVD menus don't work properly when playing through Sage. What I mean by this is that when the DVD menu comes up, none of the options are highlighted, I can use my arrow buttons and count the number of presses to get to the option I want, but this is not intuitive, and does not pass the usability test for the family. Also worth mentioning is that when I play the exact same DVD rips on my HD200 with the SageMC interface, they work perfectly. 2) I have configured an "external player" (TMT) to play dvd's to fix problem 1 (above), but then when I go to play a DVD on my HD-200, they don't work, presumably because the sage server just launched TMT to play it, so it's kind of a catch 22. 3) I can't seem to get ripped blu-rays (ripped to folder with AnyDVD-HD) to play back with TMT as the external player. Any tips or example batch files which are successful at this would be appreciated. FYI, I am running Windows 7 (32-bit) on my SageTV box. Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated in getting these items resolved and making my transition complete to a satisfied member of the Sage community. Thanks! EDIT: 11/9/2009 Due to the overwhelming response I suppose I should break out my questions into separate posts? In any case, I have decided to make life much easier for myself and just get a second HD200 to have a consistent and hopefully reliable method of doing things on both of my TV's I'll post later this week after the second HD200 comes in if I'm successful. I searched pretty exhaustively and did not find answers for my specific problems, like I said, as great as the forums are, they are polluted with outdated and irrelevant information which creates a lot of confusion for a newbie. But they are moot now anyway because I went with HD200's for both of my televisions, very happy with that decision, really simplifies life.
