Locking specific folders?

First off hello all, I've been looking at getting a home media center for a while.

Currently I have a server setup with about 10TB of storage and enough movies on it to keep me bussy for a while

Right now I have around 400 movies and about 79 TV shows.

I havent actually bought SageTV yet I'm trying to decide if I want to.

Anyway I want to be able to lock out movies and TV shows while maintianing the nice directory structue. Like having a pin code to enter the folder "true blood" but allowing anyone to get into "sponge bob square pants"
Does anyone know a way to do this while still maintianing the directory structure navigation?

I tried installing the web server and putting ratings on shows, then using parental controls on files but that kind of sucked. It changed the way it recognized the files I put ratings on.

I also found a utility to hide some folders, but I dont want to hide them. I just want to lock it up.

I've looked around for a few days and found some old threads from 2005 that talked about this but it doesnt look like anything came of it.

Yeah... good luck Let me know if you figure anything out that works for you, cause I've asked and seen this asked for multiple times over the years and apparently folder/file restrictions are nowhere on the SageTV team's radar. File management is my one major complaint with SageTV... but for some reason I continue to use it

There were some old threads showing how to create a custom media screen to show the restricted videos, and exclude shows from showing up in the primary imported video's section (for example), but it was too much of a PITA to set up and manage to make it worth my time. It got worse when I went to the extenders because sometimes the devices seem to loose their configuration setup (on a reboot I get the default STV and it wants to go through the basic configuration). All the work I did to configure the custom screen goes "poof" when it did this, so I just gave up. For now, I just use SageMC and when I want to play a restricted file I tell it to "play other file" and have to go through my WHS "shares" folder to find the file I want. No thumbnails, no descriptions, etc.

One of these days I keep hoping that the SageTV team will decide to take up the task of media management within the application, either by network login or thier own "in-house" design. I'm not holding my breath though since hasn't happened in the last 5 years or so since I started using SageTV....
