Add placeshift user from remote location

Hi,

I have just installed the Linux version and now I need to configure it. The server is 3000km from where I live so I cannot do this from a client on the local network. My placeshift client tells me to add a user on the server which is of course right.

My question is now how I can do this? I have full access to the server (Ubuntu Server 9.10) but no GUI. Is there a way of just editing a config file?

Placeshifter user info is stored in Sage.properties, but the passwords are encrypted, which makes manual editing problematic.

Can you cannect by VPN to fool the server into thinking you're local so it will skip the authentication? Once you're in, you can use Placeshifter to set up Placeshifter users for non-local access.

Yes VPN was the solution. I actually have an VPN connection from my router to the network where SageTV is installed, but I guess it was not enough. When I made a VPN directly from my PC to the other network it worked perfectly.
