Recording Details Info not quite correct

For a long time, I thought that the information on recording details told me the resolution and audio recording quality of the movie I had recorded. After some testing, it seems as if it shows the relevant information for the video/audio being recorded at the beginning of the file - not necessarily the movie itself. I understand why it does that but since the intro which the tv station puts at the beginning of a movie isn't necessarily the same quality as the movie, it shows the wrong info quite often. I had been occassionally rerecording movies to see if I could get one in 1080i instead of 720p, or 5.1 instead of stereo which in hindsight has been a waste of time. Any way to change the setting so that it pulls the recording details after maybe the first 5 minutes of the recording instead just the beginning?
