More RAM?

I did not want to high jack the other thread, so I thought I would ask this in a new one. After reading GKusnick's comment...

...and checking it looks like my Peak Commit Charge is greater than my RAM (2826736 versus 2GB). I have thought about adding more RAM many times, but have always heard about a 4GB problem with some Hauppauge cards. I have a PVR-250 and two HVR-1600's. It looks like the 4GB problem may only be on 64-bit systems though, is that correct? If I am running those cards on a 32-bit WHS system, can I safely go to 4GB?

Thanks.

I upgraded my WHS with my two PVR-500s from 2GB to 4GB and I got 'No Signal' from the PVR-500s in SageTV after the upgrade. Dropping down to 3GB and they started working again.

You should be able to install 4GB and add the /MAXMEM= command to the boot.ini file to limit the amount of RAM Windows is allowed to use. It's a hidden system file in the root of the C: drive. Make a copy of the original file in the root of the c: drive and be sure to have a boot disk or boot cd available just incase you use a bad command or make a mistake in the boot.ini file that prevents the system from booting. You can then boot from a boot disk and copy the original back. Start with /MAXMEM=3072, reboot, and then test the tuners in SageTV. If they work, try bumping that number up, reboot, and retest the tuners. Keep bumping the number up until the tuners stop working and then bump it back down a notch. You should be able to get the maxmem up to about 3.5GB (/MAXMEM=3584) and maybe more if you have integrated video on the motherboard that uses system RAM.
