Channel remap fake-out possible?

Hey all,

So I want to be able to Placeshift some of the Olympics so colleagues and I can watch them live while at work. I've given up on trying to Placeshift my HD-PVR content so I dusted off my old PVR-150 and got it working again with an old STB (a wonder that both worked given that they hadn't been used in 2 years).

To simplify things considerably I am just going to leave this STB on the Olympic channel full time (ch 250). It's a very old STB and so I have used a coax to connect the TV-Out on the STB to the TV-Tuner on the PVR-150, and can pick up the audio/video on the PVR-150 via Placeshifter. Audio and video quality are perfect and don't stutter (unlike Placeshifting the HD-PVR, but that's another story).

So here is what I want to do. I have created a channel lineup for the PVR-150 with a single physical channel (3) activated. It shows up on the Program Guide, but of course with "No Data". I want to remap Physical Channel 3 to Logical Channel 250 to pull the channel data from the EPG. Each time I make this change in the Channel Sources Setup, I Exit, and Finish the Channel Setup but the Channel name and EPG data do not change -- channel is still listed as TV Tuner 3. Any idea how to remap this listing so that the Physical Channel 3 will pull down the EPG data for Logical Channel 250?

Been a long time, but if I recall, you need to do the following: when you are walking through the setup of the new encoder, you tell it that it is using the tuner input (not using an external STB). Then, you can select your same line-up, telling it to make a copy (so you can configure the channels differently than you hd-pvr's lineup). Then, disable all channels EXCEPT the olympic channel (should still be at 250). That should get your the channel guide info. Next, you have to remap the physical channel of that olympic channel to Ch 3. this will tell it to tune to Ch-3 to get the olympic channel if using the PVR-150.

The other thing you will ahve to do, is make sure the PVR-150 has a higher merit than the HD-PVR, so that it uses IT for the olympic channel, instead of the HD-PVR (that, or remove 250 from the HD-PVR).

I couldnt get this to work quite as I wanted, but your suggestion to remove channel 250 from the other lineups did the trick. So I just enabled the single channel on the PVR-150 and removed 250 from the HD-PVR lineup and it works like a charm.

Thanks for the help.

This fake-out has worked out remarkably well. Able to watch the olympic broadcast when I can at work -- it's been great.
