What format does the Hauppauge 2250 record in?

I looked around here and on Hauppauge's site, and all I could find was that the unit had mpeg2 encoders.

But, does it do some internal conversion to store recorded HD data (ATSC tuners) in H.264, or do all tuners record and store data in mpeg2, like the PVR-150 for example.

thanks

No. All ATSC and QAM tuners pull down the streams as they are. MPEG2 currently. And the Analog tuners convert the analog to MPEG2 as well.

Only the HD-PVR will convert the recordings to h.264 on the fly in hardware.

good news - thanks. there's a sale on hauppauge units at the moment, so I wanted to be sure. When using Placeshifter, I don't get very good results with H.264 recordings, so the 2250 might be a good addition

And just to be extra clear... the hdpvr doesn't convert digital to h.264, it starts out with an analog signal
