Firewire Channel Change w/PCI or PCIe Card

Here's my situation:

WHS_1 (old P4 test rig)
* Firewire on MOBO
* Channel changing works 100% no problem thru SageTV

WHS_2 (production server)
* Firewire via PCIe add-in card
* Change channels via the command prompt no problem
* Cannot call channel change through SageTV

WHS_3 (new Atom server)
* Firewire via PCI add-in card
* Change channels via the command prompt no problem
* Cannot call channel change through SageTV

So in the case of PCIe or PCI firewire card, SageTV is not calling the channel change but with firewire on the MOBO it works. I don't get it.

Anybody doing firewire channel change with a PCI or PCIe add-in card?

Thanks

Dave

I have used both onboard and add on card. Either way works. I would double check and make sure there's not something else going on in your settings.

Thanks Clift

I will work away at this. So strange that I can change channels at the command prompt using either the panel device # or unique id but not in SageTV. Makes me wonder, in my case, if there is something in the nature of the EXEMultitunerPlugin.dll that works only with on board firewire and not add-in cards.

No; I've used it both ways. I suggest you double check the EXEMultitunerPlugin settings, both in the registry and in the <SageTV install path>\Common\RemoteCodes\EXEMultiTunerPlugin directory on the PCs where it doesn't work.

It works, my mistake

My registry file was incorrect. I misspelled program as in program files. I looked at this numerous times and still didn't catch it until I looked at the registry entry character by character. Then I saw the mistake. Of course I had copied the misspelled entry to another machine so I had two different servers not changing channels via firewire. Everything is perfect now.

Many thanks to Clift and Andy.

SageTV remains best in class and one of the many reasons is the support in these forums - any problem can be solved!
