Can't save sagemc_menu.xml in win7
I am trying to permanently add the TV Explorer menu to sageMC, but whenever I save the sagemc_menu.xml (after adding the TVE internal screen), I get the "file save successfully" message but it really hasn't (file is unchanged when viewed in wordpad). So I tried saving it as sagemc_menu2.xml. And that's where it got strange. Again it indicated success, however, I cannot find the file using explorer. However, if I go to the load different menu file inside sageMC, and browse to the folder, I see the new file. Yes, I do have show hidden files checked and it remains checked (all other hidden files show up) and I am logged in as administrator. So in short, sageMC cannot edit its own files and whenver it writes a file, only sageMC can see it.
I have another issue that may or may not be related in that TVE won't work in the HDtheatre extender. I see the menu item but when selected, I get a internal screen not found error message (works fine from the server). I'm thinking this could easily go away once I figure out how to unhide these files.\ Anyone else seeing similar issues? |

It sounds like you are running win7 with UAC enabled and the file is probably ending up in the UAC virtual store... which sage doesnt officially support. There are some threads around here for workarounds (the simplest of which is to turn off UAC or to not install sage in program files... but rather something like C:\Sage\SageTV)

Thanks! That was it.
![]() After disabling UAC (setting to the lowest security settings from the Accounts Control panel), next time you launch SageTV, it thinks you are doing a new install (because all the important stuff was stored elsewhere). To avoid having to go though all that again, you can copy the wiz.bin and sage.properties files from the virtual area it was store before. For me is was at: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV |

BTW, you should save the modified sagemc_menu.xml using a new file name so it doesn't get overwritten the next time you update SageMC.
Aloha, Mike
