Need to restart SageTV Server once every 1-2 Months...why?

Every 1-2 months, for some reason, my SageTV extenders are unable to find the SageTV server. After stopping and starting the SageTV service it is back up and the extenders are able to find it.

Two questions:
1) Is anyone else having this issue?
2) Is there a way I can have SageAlert or a "heartbeat" check to see if the SageTV server is available for the extenders (e.g., check a certain port)?

Thanks,
Matt

Same thing has been happening to me. All of a sudden I wake up in the morning and all my HD-200's only have a green light (no red light). I press Home to get them connected up, the red light turns on for a little then shuts off. Power cycling the HD-200's doesn't fix it. I have to restart the service for everything to start working again. I was running the latest everything. Updated to Beta 7 yesterday, we will see if this still happens.

By any chance do you have two network cards in your computer?

Two network cards in a team yes. Only one IP address on the server though.

Same here as well -- two cards, but only 1 ip address with 1 network cable.

I have the same problem, and also to network ports on my server. Why do we think this might be the cause?

Restart nightly

I actually restart sage nightly. It seems every morning when I don't it is very sluggish when browsing the DVD collection (they are ripped as DVDs not MPEGs). We use the DVD's on the server a lot because our son watches them over and over...

I used to restart windows nightly because (using Scheduler) I thought it was an OS issue. But one time I just restarted Sage and the problem went away. So , I set up a nightly task shuts down sage at round 2AM, then restarts it maybe 10 minutes later. It seems to solve the problem for the most part.

If I don't do this then it will hang (giving the wheel of death) while playing a DVD. It usually hangs when pausing or stopping the video.

I have only one network jack and its on the MOBO. The issue could be because the DVD's are on a USB drive attached to a Buffalo NAS; but it is a relatively new issue (like maybe 4 months old).
