Sage.properties file in SageTV7

Is the sage.properties file still located in c:\Prorgram Files\SageTV\SageTV?

I upgraded yesterday and my sage.properties file has a date of 10/26/2009 and it has the line:
STV=C\:\\Program Files\\SageTV\\SageTV\\STVs\\SageTV3\\SageTV3.xml

which can't be since I am using the STV for SageTV7.

FYI I am running Windows7 HP.

Bump 121 views and no responses? I haven't used Sage7 much but it still looks like my Sage.prop file isn't being used - either that or it is in a different folder.

Not sure how v7 behaves with a clean install, since I updated as well. The issue with Win7 and Vista is that you need admin access to write under program files. But unless you disabled UAC or you changed access rights for that folder to Authenticated Users you can't normally write into the install folder. The file might be stored in the virtual store instead, check whether the file is somewhere under \Users\%username%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files.

Have you double checked where you installed SageTV v7? Version 7 should no longer end up with properties & database files in the VirtualStore regardless of whether you have UAC enabled.

And, yes, the properties files & wiz.bin are normally written to the SageTV install directory, where sagetv.exe is located.

If you are running 64bit windows, it would install under the "Program Files (x86)" directory since it is a 32bit application...

Thanks,
Jeff

This system initially had SageTV6 installed on 32bit Vista with UAC turned off. The sage.properties file was definitely in the regular c:\program files folder. This system was upgraded to 32 bit Win7 HP last fall - and then Sage was upgraded to V7 last week. Given that the sage.properties file in c:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV was dated last October I am guessing that the location of the file moved to the VirtualStore location upon upgrading the PC to Win7.

Is there any way to get the sage.properties, and other files, back to the Program FIles location?

One other bit of weirdness is that I am not getting the correct Sage icon in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen - I am getting the default icon that windows uses when it can't find an icon. I wonder if this is related?

Since Windows Vista, I've been installing SageTV into C:\SageTV rather than C:\Program Files\SageTV.

In fact, everything I've installed (AnyDVDHD, Java, PlayON, MyMovies etc.) now get installed to the root of the C drive. Just makes my life simpler. Everything is where I expect it to be.

That sounds like a good strategy but is there any way I can do that now that I have my existing version of Sage7? Do I have to uninstall and then reinstall? If that is the case then do I have to install Sage 6, put in the license info and then do the upgrade (note that I have not bought my Sage 6-> upgrade licenses yet bet I will be doing so).

If you want to move SageTV to the root, I would wait until you get the upgrade license. Then do a clean install. You really do need to locate your wiz.bin file and copy that in after you do the install to preserve your recording data/history and favorites.

You should be able to search for files named wiz.bin and locate the one with a current date.

EDIT: Don't know the answer about the version 6 key and V7 key on a clean install of version 7.
