HD200 hang

Everytime I try to resume playback on my Avatar mkv rip my HD200 hangs. I have to pull the power and reset it, then I can watch the video just fine. If I wait about 2 minutes, i get a playback exception, but I still can't play the movie until I hard power cycle the HD200.

I'd like to get some logging so I can create a bug report, but I'm not sure how to enable logging on the HD200. The server appears to be fine, it's just the HD200. It's fairly reproducible.

I am getting sage.PlaybackException too on my HD200. I've tried different firmwares and in all cases it will work for a while and then stop again. I've also noticed that when powering the HD200 on it will turn itself off again unless the power is removed and put back in again.

Same problems here. The playback error started happening after taking the latest firmware. Usually unplugging and plugging in is enough, but last night I had to restart the server as well. I checked System Information and Java memory was something like 150/350/780.

I was on the latest firmware and then went back to the version from Feb. and still get the error. HD200 with this Firmware works fine using a v.6 server though. The latest firmware didn't work using v.6 for me either.

Instead of power cycling, have you tried to telnet in and issue a reboot ? Whilst it won't fix the problem, it may help narrow it down. I had a corrupted video file that would still give playback errors after a reboot, you had to power cycle the HD200 to get it playing again.. I had a theory that the video decoder chip was somehow wedged such that only a power cycle would clear it

I'm having the exact same problem. For some reason I keep getting a playback exception everytime my HD200 gets into the main menu. There is no way to escape it except by turning it off. When I try to turn it back on, it keeps resetting itself and won't let me turn it back on without pulling the plug.

I can't even get it to watch tv right now. At least the other day I was able to get it to stop so I could watch tv.

I couldn't watch on mine tonight either. I tried restarting the server and HD200 several times. Needless to say I was disappointed with watching the 24 finale on the laptop and not the HDTV

I have the exact same issue. Since upgrading to v7 and the latest firmware for the extender, one of my two HD200s has not worked (differnt one at differnet time). I did an initial fresh install of v7 and upgraded the firmwares on both and they both had this problem, but one pretty much everytime I turned it on. The other was hit or miss. For the fun of it () I reinstalled my WHS OS and started from scratch. Everything was fine for a couple days and then it started coming back. Now one of my extenders (differnet one than the first time) is unusable unless I unplug the power cord to reboot it. Then it works but I can not turn it off or I have to power cycle it again to get it working again. I get the Playback Exception error no matter what I try to play. What is real interesting is if I try to play a recorded TV show it will try to launch live TV on a channel that was last watched then throw up the Playback Exception.

Has anyone found a fix for this besides going back to v6? I really like v7, but it is unusable on my extenders.

I have two HD200 extenders. One has been flawless. The other I've had to execute this process 3-4 times since the beginning of this beta.

1) unplug power AND NETWORK to the HD200.
2) plug in power and let it boot to Standalone mode.
3) plug in network cable.
4) browse to your server and connect from the server browser.

I have no idea why this works, but for me it's the only thing I can find to resolve when my HD200's go berserk.

Same thing happened for me, I upgraded my server to Ubuntu 10.04 and it worked for a while but now the problem is back. I haven't had a chance to enter a bug, I was hoping someone would beat me to it

I submitted a bug last night just before posting here. I have not heard back from them yet, but once I do I will let everyone know the status.

I saw the same thing with my initial upgrade to v7, and then after the server reinstall of WHS. Both both of mine work fine for a little while then the problem comes back. Strange.

joshuad156, thanks so much for the recommendation. I gave this try a few days ago, and everything is working pretty good so far. I had rebooted both of mine many, many times (pulled power plug) in the past, but never disconnected the network cable. I really do not understand why that would matter, but it seems it does for me too.

SageTV is now aware of the problem and would like to get some logs if the Playback Exception comes back. I actually tried the above fix before they got back to me so I was not able to recreate the problem to get logs to them.

I see where this thread went cold. Was there any resolution to this?
Thanks,

I ended up manually creating an entry for my server. I had a couple problems soon after that but haven't seen it again in a long time. I'm running a bit older firmware - 20100518 1.

They need logs, which makes sense, but since the HD200 is hung, I can't get the log files off it. I've had the HD200 time out once, but I've never gotten that to happen again. So I can't get them anything to help debug, but I still get it to happen fairly often.
