Plugin: Favorites Filter

All,

I have put together a plugin that I thought I would share. We have younger children in our household, they are old enough to control Sage by themselves to watch their shows (validated through Parental Controls), however, I am always afraid they will accidentally our shows.

Favorites Filter provides the ability to set favorites to a a specific level (1-default, 2 or 3) such that only level 1 airings (which is default) initially shows in the Recordings views. Airings associated with Favorites with level 2 or 3 will not display until the viewing level is increased by pressing 1, 2 or 3 on the remote control or keyboard to change the current viewing level. The current viewing level is indicated in the menu title in parentheses. The level for the favorite can be selected within the Advanced Options of the favorite.

Set up options:

Go to any favorite and view the Advanced Options. Select the Favorites Filter Level and select 1 (which is default), 2 or 3.

Usage:

When using any of the standard Sage recordings views you will notice a (1), (2) or (3) in the title. This indicates which level of recordings is currently being displayed as indicated below:
  • Level 1 - by default all airings (Favorite based or otherwise) will show at this level.
  • Level 2 - all Level 1 airings and any airings with Favorites marked as Level 2.
  • Level 3 - all Level 1 and 2 airings and any airings with Favorites marked as Level 3.

While viewing the recordings, simply enter 1, 2 or 3 on the remote control to switch between which levels are displayed. Each time you return to the recordings view, it will return to the default level (level 1).

Versions:

1.0.0 - Initial version

Potential Upcoming Features:
  • Prompt for Parental Control password before switching levels
  • Ability to mark recordings NOT associated with Favorites to a level
  • Add additional levels
  • Allow levels to be named

Please let me know if any of these features are of interest and I can work them in.

Please enjoy.

Thanks.

P.S. This is my first public plugin, so please feel free to contact me with any feedback, suggestions or bugs and I will do my best to help.

lanmanmi. This plugin is awesome. Thanks for the work.

Your planned features for naming levels and adding additional levels is great. Here's some other feedback:

- It's pretty painful to go through a whole set of favorites and set their level. Is there any way to tap into the Options menu when on an individual recording in the Recordings section? This might make it a little easier. Even better, consider making your own configuration screen with a simple list of each recording. After the recording you could have the recording level listed; "Lost (1)". The user could then arrow up and down through the list and hit the number on the remote corresponding to the desired favorite level. This would make setup much easier. Heck, maybe this could be done right in the Manage Recordings screen. I'm not familiar at all with the Sage API.

- A neat feature would be an option to display distinct lists. i.e.- Each favorite level only shows the recordings in that level.

Thanks again!
