is there a plugin to read .my files yet?

Anyone doing a plugin to read .my files yet?

Ive got additional my files with all the imported recordings Ive got. SageMC would show the contents I guess, but Id like to try the default UI to start with.

Ive done some searching but its a bit tricky when "My" always gets stripped out of the search.

Excellent!

I might even have to buy version 7 upgarde then. Assuming I can tweak the colours a bit.

Finished the port and added to the SageTV 7 plugin repository as Read, Write and Edit Metadata.

Very nice seems to work very well.

Is there anyway to get SageTV to create the initial My file.

Creating them manually isnt hard of course, just takes som time.

Found the creation method (Video details, options "Manage Metadata")

Dont seem to be able to only have xml files though. Doing an "Edit metadata" always create both

I'm assuming you are talking about for imported videos.
Detailed Setup / Customize / Metadata Options / Automatic Create and Delete Options / Create Metadata File Templates for Imported Videos.

I'll assume your talking about .my files and not .xml.
Detailed Setup / Customize / Metadata Options / Metadata File Types / Make .properties Files = No

Most of the options are documented here.

(yes I just want to .my file)
my setings are
Make .properties file = No
Make .my files = yes
Not changed them and it still creates properties files.

FYI There also seems to be an issue with editing IMDB imported data (maybe due to its size). Did the import for "I robot" and got mote than 200K of .my and .properties file. On editiing the title changed to "null" cant seem to change it back

Edit: Also looks like the video specific "import .my file" doesnt work. After cutting down the size of the my file, Icant get the details in SageTV to change by selecting the option. The replace .my file option works but puts back a 206K filee

Edit2: and everytime I edit the metadata and save it the my file gets bigger! (488K now!)

I know it's a tad off topic, but what are you using the .my files for? Seems things like BMT and such make this much easier than editing text files. Is there some other program you are using that requires these .my files?

Did try BMT a few months ago, but never managed to get it working.

Also like to keep some of the stuff so its nice to be able to keep the .my file etc so the show details are right. Theres no way of playing a DVD of mpeg or avi files and having the my file contents show up, but at least everything is there when I move stuff to the import folders.

Sounds like the .properties files would be more to your usage, as sage will automatically pick them up when importing the file.
