No Sound First Half Second in Music Playback

I did some searching, but I didn't see any post regarding this issue. On my HD-200, when I play a song, for some reason I get no sound for the first half second of the song. I see that the volume meter starts at 0 and then goes to 100% after a half second, which would explain the problem. How do I prevent that? I miss the first beat and couple of notes of every song.

I'm guessing you're using S/PDIF-out, for which this has been a known issue for some time, filed a bug report for it more than two years ago.

This is the response I got from support:

It's not actually a hardware problem (we reproduced it here). It's an issue
related to how S/PDIF works. On the PC the media player can switch songs
fast enough so that there's no gap transmitted and the S/PDIF connection
doesn't need to re-detect the signal. But on the HD100 (since it's not as
fast as a PC inside) it takes a little more time for that transition to
occur which causes the S/PDIF signal to be re-detected by the receiver
(Which takes about a half second).

Guess the HD200 isn't that fast either... ;-)

My workaround: use a separate analog input on my receiver for mp3 playback.

Actually, I'm not using S/PDIF-out - I'm using HDMI.

So I guess this problem is not common. It is so odd to me - why is my volume starting at 0 and then automatically going to 100% after a split second?
