Importing recordings from BTV and maintaining history?

A while back, Brent did a good writeup on how to convert BTV shows into the SageTV database:
http://www.geektonic.com/2008/01/how...hows-into.html

What I am curious about is recording history. Use Two and a Half Men for example. In BTV, I have a series recording that records all episodes and it will skip a recording if I already have previously and fully recorded the episode in my library. So far I have about half the total episodes and it records all new ones.

If I use this technique to transfer my shows and metadata into SageTV, and then set SageTV to do a series recording that records every show, then it comes up to an episode in the EPG I already have recorded, will it know that I have it already, or will it re-record the episode?

no. unfortunately, the id numbers associated to your imported recordings are not the same that sage assigns to them (which are from zap2it). This is what sage would be checking to see if its already got that episode.

Actually, I am pretty sure that the EPGID would match. Which doesn't mean that it would be enough for SageTV to consider it for scheduling...
