Trying to use my old wiz.bin from version 6 [SOLVED]
I've made some major changes recently. I've moved my Sage setup from my 'HTPC' to my file server running windows 7. Sage version 6 was on a different machine running vista. I installed the latest beta of version 7 and got it working well in that it will tune using my HDHR and HDPVR. However when I tried to bring in my old wiz.bin so that my old recording will be recognized, something goes wrong.
The Sage service starts momentarily then stops. I can reissue the start command repeatedly without change whether I'm setup a localuser or an actual user account. I see no errors in the windows log or the debug log from Sage. I've tried loading the interface (the service isn't running now), and while its loading it hangs on 'initializing'. Sage can be made to work properly(service will run and interface will load), when the old version 6 wiz.bin and the properties files are deleted or replaced with those from the fresh install. I was only copying over my wiz.bin, do I also need to copy over my old v6 properties file as well? the recording directories are on different drives then they were on the previous machine, should that matter? Thanks for any help. Last edited by bbig119; 09-07-2010 at 09:13 AM. Reason: solved my problem |

No-you just need the wiz.bin. But you need to make sure all the same paths (should be UNC) are reachable by the new machine. You may want to try just starting Sage locally (not by the service) until it finishes updating the wiz.bin with all the info contained in it. Then try starting it with the service. (It may want to be configured again running it locally.)

Great idea Gerry, I think that worked. I started sage without the service and setup my recording drives as UNC paths instead of their local drive location and then shut down sage and copied over my old wiz.bin. Started up sage again (without service), my recordings and favorites, etc were recognized and sage functioned. I then shut down again and started up the service. Things appear to be as they should. I'm not sure if the key was setting my recording drives up as UNC paths or starting sage without the service.
Thanks for the help. Quote:
