Media Player from UNraid Server?

So,
All I want to achieve is the ability to stream ripped DVD's(iso or raw files) or BD (mkv/avi etc.), or TV programs (avi/mpg/etc.) from my UNRaid server, to a TV without a PC in the middle.
I was going to build a small HTPC using XBMC as the interface, but if this will be cheaper and an easier interface for the wife, I will go with this.

so when you say you want no pc in the middle does this imply that the "small htpc running xbmc" will also be the unraid server?

if you more clearly lay out what you are trying to do i may be able to help you, but there just isn't enough information in your original post for me to assist..

The UNRaid server is separate. It sits in my basement and is wired into my cat6 network in the home.
It hosts all of the media in my home=(images, iso, raw dvd backup files, mp3, etc.)

The small htpc WOULD have been xbmc running as the interface at the living room tv to have a nice smooth interface for the family to watch movies/pictures on demand.

If the Sage HD Media player could serve this purpose instead of the small htpc in the living room it would be great.
Even better would be if I can get 2 SageTV HD Theaters (1 living room, 1 bedroom) to view the same content hosted on the UNRaid server.

$300 for 2 HD300's beats the pants off 2 htpc's or 1 htpc with dual output.

Yes, it can play media off an unRAID (or any other NAS that supports CIFS). The question becomes largely how much you care about UI. The HD300 isn't going to be a match for XBMC in terms of Bling.

What do you mean by "view the same content". You can play anything on as many HD300's as you want, but there's no sync mechanism if that's your plan/question.
