Switch MVP to HD300

Just got my HD300 and need to swap out my Hauppauge MVP. How do I do this, please? I read the 6.6 manual, Appendix M - SageTV Media Extenders, but I guess my reading skills aren't what they use to be. Guidance would be most gratefully received.

Thanks very much,

Bill Cole

Since one really has nothing to do with the other you would setup your HD300 according to the directions in the manual. First thing is plug it in and update the firmware on the HD300. Type the word beta on your remote and have it look for new firmware. After the reboot have it find your Sage server and connect to it. Follow the Sage TV wizard.

I'd say, when I went replaced my MVP with an HD200 the difference was remarkable. Sooooo, much better in every way. I can't imagine going from the MVP to the HD300.

I just upgraded from a MediaMVP to the HD300 and what a difference, the quality is better the menu speed is fantastic and I love the aspect button. The only thing I can't stand is the remote, compared to the MediaMVP remote the HD300 remote is several steps backwards as far as the button layout. I know I can use the MediaMVP remote with the HD300 but some of the best features are missing.

Thanks for the help! I got it going and it's really great, particularly compared to the MVP. I can finally see the HD shows that I've been recording but haven't been able to playback w/o some weird stuff happening. My initial mistake was not having the presence of mind to click on the name for my SageTV server that is presented when clicking on the SageTVServers icon from the Main HD300 menu. [OK, I hadn't had a good night's sleep in a couple of days.]

I did notice that while I had been using the straigt vanilla SageTV interface under the MVP that the HD300 is pointing to a SageMC interface that I haven't used in a while. Just curious as to what setting might be causing this.

Thanks again, Bill Cole
