HP EX495, Hauppauge and many wasted hours

So, I upgraded my HP 485 to a 495. I'm trying to set up basic analog cable. I can't get my Hauppauge tuners to work with the 495: I am wondering if this is an artifact of the 3.0 software. I tried first with my old HVR-1950 tuner (which worked on the 485 box). The CD install (copied the CD to the WHC box) wouldn't work: Kept giving me Windows errors. I deleted the drivers with the Hauppauge utility then tried installing the drivers through Device Manager. Tried the old drivers and the updated drivers from mfr. site. No joy. My tuner shows up as an audio device, but no video devices configured.

So, bought an 850. Same problem.

The Hauppauge driver install program log reflects OS errors: It doesn't like WHS.

How the ^$#@ do I get a Hauppauge tuner to work with the 495?

I have searched these, and other, fora, to no avail.

I need to get one of these tuners set up so I can resume using Sage.
