HD-300 IR Extender Input Level

The cupboard I intend putting the HD-300 in (when it arrives) currently has an IR distribution amp with spare output sockets.

I've found the extender wiring diagram in the FAQ, which then got me thinking.

Instead of messing around with an output wand pointing at the HD-300 maybe I could just plug one of the distribution amp outputs (with an appropriately wired cable) into the IR Extender socket assuming the signal voltage levels are high enough.

I'm still waiting from the amp manufacturer to find out what the signal levels are on the output sockets, but what is the input level on the HD-300 extender socket? The plug diagram just mentions the 3V-5V supply for the receiver and not the signal level.

Anyone see any reason this won't work if the signal levels are compatible, eg 5V TTL out and 5V TTL in?
