Question merit value for specific channel

I think the answer to this question is "No", but hopefully I'm wrong.

I have a situation in which one of the channels I receive is of much higher quality OTA than the Comcast provided Digital Cable version. Is there anyway to prefer the OTA tuner for this one channel, but prefer the QAM version for any other overlapping channels in the lineup?

Thanks
Bill

You can change the tuner merit, but that would work at the lineup level. There is no way to raise or lower the merit of a single channel. What you can do is remove the channel from all lineups except the lineup for the OTA tuner.

Why would your prefer recompressed QAM over High quality OTA anyways? I would always put my OTA higher merit than the cableco's feed.

I live about 85 miles from the OTA antenna's so I don't always get a good signal on all of the channels. I like to have all of the channels in the lineup though in the event I need to record/watch more channels than the number of QAM tuners that I have.

I have the OTA and HD-PVRs tuners setup as different channels on the guide. That way I can always limit the favorite to a particular channel number that is only defined on that one tuner.

i also use non-overlapping channel sets for hdhr and hdpvr.

now that i'm adding a colossus, i actually care about merit for the first time since the hdpvr and colossus use the same channel set and i haven't determined yet if the colossus is going to be more/less reliable than my hdpvr.

what is the range of values for merit and do higher or lower values get used first?

thanks

Higher merit gets used first... not sure on the range of numbers, but I don't see a need to go too high.
