Can SD audio and HD audio play together?

Hi guys,

Sage user for just under a year (Currently on latest Beta...upgrading to Released Sage 7 soon). I have 2 DirecTV D12s connected to Hauppauge 1600 and 150s via S-Video & RCA audio. Until today I've been quite happy with my system. Today I received my early Xmas present, a Pioneer HDMI 1.4 receiver and a couple of Polk towers and a center speaker. Playing around with HDMI in/out I'm getting stereo from my D12s, but DVD's and converted HD files are 5.1 or 7.1. Is there a way to configure MPEG2 audio codec to fake a center channel or better yet simulate 5.1?

I'm late into the Surround Sound era and never realized how much the center speaker contributes to the listening experience and right now my center speaker and surrounds only play on 5.1 or 7.1, which is almost never MPEG-2.

Again, this is just new to me so I don't have the vocabulary yet to perform meaningful searches. If this has been covered please help point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Mr Krabs

Change your speaker settings in Windows to a 5.1 or 7.1 setup and Windows will faux mix everything. It's not a true 5.1 or 7.1 signal, but it uses all the speakers. If you aren't running Windows I have no idea how to fix it

Another (better?) option would be to utilize either AC3Filter's or ffdshow's mixer settings to stretch the stereo audio to 5.1.

Anything that bypasses kmixer is probably a better solution
