is there an app to save online links after doing a search?
as an example, my daughter's french class is studying a french
satirical video that is up on youtube but, unlike on the pc, i can't save the
link and have to search for it fresh each time from my hd300 extender.

if this doesn't exist, doesn't a saved list of youtube links sound like a useful app?

edit: should be in v7 forum, not here...........sorry
You're gonna love this. Once the clip is fully buffered (ie all downloaded) hit the "RECORD" button. Voila, clip is now stored in the videos section under "Youtube". No more having to search for it at all.

I do this all the time as I collect short clips of nursery rhymes, music videos etc. for my 2 year old.

Another alternative especially if you've got computer access is to download the file with Keepvid.com and drop it in a import directory. Takes a little more foresight but if you have plans on watching it over and over...

thanks folks.............i never saw that solution coming (record button, wow!)

i normally download music video that i want to keep in firefox (there is a very nice plugin for saving youtube stuff)

but saving with record button through an hd300, i'm impressed
(was that a secret capability, or is this just the price of not reading the manual?)

edit: i actually found it stored under videos/category/podcast (not under youtube), but it was there...........super!

Nice!

Is there a way to have the YouTube recording that was saved show in SageTV recordings ?

I just upgraded to SageTV 7, so not sure if this is easy now or not?

BMT can import regular files so they appear in your recordings directory. At the same time, with a file like youtube, BMT would try to scrape for metadata. When it couldn't find it it would with hold it from becoming available in win7 standard recordings view. Other plugins like TVB seem to still give you access to them regardless if BMT has applied metadata.

Maybe there's a way to automate the youtube vids with BMT. I'm not sure you'd probably have to ask in that forum.

Is there a way to have it ask at the end of the clip if you want to save it?

Many times, I cannot save because it has not yet buffered all the way, and other times the clip ends before I get a chance to save it.

Small window of opportunity to save - so it would be great if it stopped at the end so that you can save it before it ends and closes.

You just "think" you have a small window Once the clip is done playing and goes back to the other screen all you have to do is press the left navagation button several times until you get BACK to the clip... even going through the Sage Main Menu (when at the main menu you should see a left pointing triangle in the upper left indicating "something" is waiting there ). You'll be at the very end of the clip and nothing will be happening but you can hit the Record button now and it'll save.

That should work. I'm nearly certain I've done this before and this is exactly how I save Netflix streaming shows. I've done this from my HD300 as well as the server with no problems.

Ok, I've searched and searched my SageTV folder and cannot find any files I have hit RECORD on after the clip buffered. Where else can I find them or what are the file names to look for?
