HD300 and HD-DVD

Any reason that the HD300 can't play HD-DVD. Most HD-DVD's use the same codecs as Blu-Ray just in a different container. I have a bunch of HD-DVDs that I can't play on this thing.

Dan, how would you expect to be playing them? I've ripped all mine to MKV and they work fine that way. Do you have them as ISOs? As much as I loved HD DVD, it's a dead format. I'd rather they spend the cycles on stuff that matters now and leave it up to us poor slobs who still own the technology to convert appropriately.

Sage doesn't understand the HD DVD format. I converted mine all to BD format with a combination of eac3to and tsmuxer. ClownBD may be able to do it for you now though.

One note on HD-DVDs is that their subtitle format differs from BD. You do need to get a program to convert the .sup files into BD format if you want to mux them into your mkv.
I never tried to see if sage would play E-AC3. I just include AC3 as the default track and add in a TrueHD track if avail.

I'm actually in the process of converting my HD DVD collection and instead of manually converting my subtitles I download them from http://subscene.com/. It will save you a ton of time.

So, what's the easiest way to convert from HD DVD to Blu-ray? I currently use MakeMKV to convert to MKV. Is there anything that can take the MKV and simply make it Blu-ray compatible (using Linux or Mac only). Thanks!
