HD300 S/PDIF audio out of sync with HDMI video
Good morning all.
I recently changed my installation from a dedicated Vista machine to WHS and HD300. When running the Vista machine (Gigabyte MB for HDMI and S/PDIF), I never had audio sync issues and could easily switch between HDMI audio directly to the TV and S/PDIF to my receiver by muting the TV and turning on the receiver. After moving to the WHS install, HDMI from the 300 works great, but when sending audio to my receiver via optical it appears that the audio is ahead of the HDMI video to a point that it is unwatchable. I have run several versions of beta firmware, including the latest as of this post, and reset the HD300 back to firmware 20101007-0 but nothing seems to work. The WHS is running version 7. Before opening a support case, does anyone have any experience or troubleshooting suggestions? Is there anything I can gain from a debug file on the 300? My receiver is older and does not have HDMI connectivity. |

I have SageTV 7 running on WHS with a HD300 connected by video to HDMI and the audio coming thru SPDIF to an older Sony reciever pumping DD 5.1 to all 5 speakers. I don't have an issue with audio sync on recordings from either the HDHomeruns or the HD-PVR. Running the latest beta firmware 20101209-0. Did you actually pull the power plug on the HD300 after changing over?

Didn't realize I needed to hard cycle power after the firmware update. I'll give that a try. I am running an HDhomerun and an older Sony DE895 receiver, so it sounds like we have a similar setup. Will let you know what I find.

I had found out a couple times after a firmware upgrade that for whatever reason either the sound didn't work or it was out of sync. A quick power off/on fixed it for me.

I seem to be having a similar issue wereby i have a hd300 connect via hdmi to my tv with an optical cable going to my amp, if i leave the sound on my tv and through the amp at the same time the audio is definatley not in sync with each other and its the optical to amp that is out of sync with the video, mostly i just mute the tv speakers and live with it, but on certain video it is more noticable and you can actually tell that the audio coming from the amp is not in sync with the picture, I have tried to rule out the it is the amp that is causing the delay ( in doing its decoding ) by attaching the tv's optical out to the amp so basically sage sends audio and video via hdmi to tv, then tv sends audio to amp using optical then amp decodes to 5.1, in doing this i then get perfect sync with the video and amp and also the tv speakers which is great, except i also use sage to output to a projector and then of course i have taken the tv out of the equation and have to rely on the optical out of the hd300 again. I have also noticed this issue on the hd200 but it seems to be getting worse on th e hd300. anyone else noticed the the hdmi audio is not in sync with sp/dif? or any ideas how i could fix this?

I'm seeing audio out of sync on an HD300 using audio over hdmi, mainly with live HD Satallite broadcasts.
Everything starts out fine but the audio, often enough to be noticable, ends up behind the video. To get it back in sync requires a channel change and back. Haven't tried pausing and playing again while still on the same channel though tbh. Occasionally the same thing happens with my Sat receiver but not often enough to even be bothered about it. With the HD 300 it seems to be happening more and more often. |
