can an HD-100 extender do 1080p?
I do not have any of the newer extenders, my two older 100's work just great. I have NEVER been able to play 1080p files on my HD100's. I can do 720p perfectly, as well as 180i and lower but the 1080p never works... rather it works for 10 or 15 seconds then gets REAL choppy to the point where you cannot watch it.
My source is the uncompressed .M2ts files from the series Planet Earth. I just copied these off of the BDs (any dvd was running) and put them on my media server. I know I could get them to work if I compressed them using h264 or divix, but I was kind of hoping to keep these "bit perfect" and leave them at 45 gigs each. I have had some other issues with uncompressed 1080p from other BDs as well. I always blamed the server or the network but I now have a quad core server, and the netwokr is 1gig ethernet. |

The HD100 isn't capable of playing raw Blu-ray video. You'll need to transcode it to a lower bitrate for it to play properly.

To be more specific, it doesn't support the same levels/bitrates that Blu-ray does, so it's possible for the HD100 to play some BDs while failing on others, it just depends on the encoding.

I've been ripping blurays with DVDfab without any transcoding.
I'm feeding these to my TV via my HD100 and my TV sees a 1080p signal. Mitch |

I haven't tried Blu-ray video on my HD100s, but I can vouch for the HD100 being able to play higher than Blu-ray rates. 1080p has worked fine, also.

Yeah, it definitely supports "1080p", ie video with a 1920x1080@24 or 30Hz resolution. The problem can come with high bitrate H.264 and maybe VC1. I think the HD100's SOC is only spec'd to MP@L4.0, while Blu-ray goes to MP@L4.1, ie higher bitrates.
