I know this is a long shot, but given this new interface, is there a way to get the H24 to output video over the ethernet port for Sage to consume? Just a thought to get around needing another HD-PVR.

This looks awesome. Serial on my H21-200's has been great...except when DTV resets the box after an update...I lose tuning.

So as to minimize WAF dropping:

I can connect my 2 boxes to my router, let DHCP assign an address, and then reserve the address in my router, correct? Do I need to go into the DTV box setup menu for anything...my boxes have never been hooked to the network (I noticed a network section previously). How exactly do I do this without deleting and re-adding the sources...can an example from the .properties file be posted. Then I assume I just go into source setup and switch from the serial channel change option to this new one...which will appear as an option?

Thanks,

P

@ polypro - you have it correct with the physical part of assigning the IP address after plugging it into your router. nothing extra needed on the STB side.

As for the sage setup, I deleted the HD-PVR tuner, then re-added it right away choosing the exact same options as before minus the change for ethernet channel changing. My channel setup was still intact and I didn't have to do anything. You could also try modifiying the "tuner control" setting y hitting the right arrow when viewing the properties of the HD-PVR in question. I think you could change it that way and not worry, so you may want to try the first. I didn't because I was also adding a second HD-PVR and changing my channel package from DirecTV at the same time.

Good Luck!

OK, thanks. If I won't lose the channel setup, I don't care about deleting and re-adding...just didn't want to go through 2,000 channel checks

They shouldn't conflict at all. You can use whatever tunerplugin with whatever tuner you want.

HELP!!

Hi all, I have tried both options here, the original poster and Eric's. My receiver does nto automatically change channels, but I can do it if I run the command from a browser.

Am I missing a step? I copied the files, changed the .ir file to reflect my receivers IP, but it does not change.

Any help would be appreciated!

Update

Are there changes that need to be made to the sage.properties?

I think I made the change there, but still no auto-change. I can change it via a browser, but not using Sage.

SHS,

Thank you for your reply, yes I did. My receiver's IP is 192.168.0.62 and the .ir file is as follows:
(name: 192.168.0.62.ir)
fiel contents:
192.168.0.62 38000 400 3

Do I need to make any changes in the sage.properties file?

Tuner Control

Followed directions in Ericvic's post #28.

My HD-PVR tuner control displayed- "My Tuner Control: DirecTV HTTP Tuning StubDevice.ir".

Changed Sage.properties file line- "mmc/encoders/-431556906/5/0/device_name=StubDevice.ir"
to "mmc/encoders/-431556906/5/0/device_name=192.168.0.110".

192.168.0.110 being "SageTV\Common\RemoteCodes\Directv HTTP Tuning\192.168.0.110.ir" file.

Worked fine after the properties edit

Win7 Pro x64, Intel i7 920, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6135 MB DDR3-1333, GeForce 9600 GT, HVR-2250. HD-PVR, DTV A23-600

Success!

Sorry, I figured it out, You need to go back into the source edit after adding and select the IP. In the original source directions didn't cover this very well.
Thank you for your assistance!

I'm still using serial channel changing without any issues, but this brought something to mind. Can this be used to send a command to reboot (red button) the receiver? I do this about once a week, so that I don't get the customer service message on my recordings. I believe the message pops up because I don't have a phone line connected. It's really annoying when I forget to reboot the STB and I get a couple days of useless recordings.

Not sure about DirecTV, but Dish doesn't need a phone line if you're connected to ethernet.. .so, while it may not let you reboot it, it may make the reason you're rebooting the box go away.

Great point, Fuzzy! That never occurred to me. Thanks for the idea. (I'm beginning to see why I ran 8--seemingly unnecessary--ethernet cables to that closet.)

I have 5 STBs. HDDVR is connected with ethernet and phone line. 2 HD STBs and 2 SD STBs are not connected to either ethernet or phone line. I'm NOT getting any customer service messages on my recordings. But I'm not using serial channel changing either so maybe it is just a problem with that. I'm using USB-UIRT.

Did you happen to tell DirecTV that you don't have a land line at some point? I don't think the serial channel changing has anything to do with it, though.

No landline here, and no messages. I can't remember if I told them that or not.
