Question about moving converted recordings

I been converting my recording to avi so my wife and I can take recording with us on our Android phones.

I recently just discovered that we could set up an auto convertation in favoite after the show finish recording in Sage 7 and it would even have it own folder to store each recorded show in.

The I converted in past are all in one same folders so how do I take those shows and move it into another folder without breaking the link in the recording guide menu?

Do I just run the convertor again and it will move it to a new folder I assigned it to?

Or is there a faster way?

Thank you

Bill

Since in SageTV 7 the file also stores some of the metadata you should just be able to move the shows to an existing or a new folder and upon the next rescan Sage performs it should update the path to where the files are.

Gerry
So just move it to a new folder and it will find it and update the path itself?

How often does it scan for the changes?

Thank you

Bill

You can set it to whatever you like in
Setup->Detailed_Setup->General->Automatic_LibraryRescan_frequency

Keep in mind sage will only find it if the path you move the files to is either an import folder, or recording folder setup in sage.

I automatically convert kids' shows from MPEG-2 to AVI and move them to a specific directory using SJQ.

For example the recording "DoraTheExplorer-ABCAnimals -474889-0.mpg" gets converted and moved to "\Videos\Kids' Shows\Dora the Explorer\ABC Animals.avi". You can see my code in the SJQv4 thread. The folder name comes straight from the Sage metadata ShowTitle and the file name comes straight from the Sage metdata EpisodeTitle.

I moved it to a sub-dir within the recording folder but it does not pick it up at all.

I check the detailed setup and it is set to scan library every 2 hours.

It did removed all the recordings that I moved from the recording guide.

I must had done something wrong or overlooked a setting or something.

Previously the recordings was in the root dir of dirve E:/ then I moved it to E:/Media/TV/Mickey_Mouse_Clubhouse/

Did I miss something?

Thank you

Bill

Cool I will try to search for that thread and see how you did it with SJQ

Right now I am just using auto convert in the Favorite setup and it will even create a folder of my choosing to move it in after it complete recording.

But I liked how your file is renamed to a simplier name

Thank for sharing!

Bill

Check to make sure they weren't marked archived.

How do I do that?

Recordings are not appearing in my Recording index so I couldn't check to make sure that they are not marked archived.
