Encrypted Sky channels

I have WINTV7 using 3 x Hauppuage Nova HD S2 satellite cards and it all works fine. My question is, if I wanted to subscribe to any of Sky's encrypted channels, is it possible (and how) to set up Sage to do this? Would it be possible to have up to 3 encrypted channels viewed/recorded at the same time? Any links to what hardware/software needed would be a great help.

Thanks.

I don't think that you have any chance of doing this with the Hauppauge cards. Sky needs a CAM (Conditional Access Module) to decrypt the Sky channels. There are threads on DigitalSpy that say this will never officially happen for non Sky provided hardware.

Check out threads here on DVBLogic and DVBEnhancer. Both are routes to doing what you want. You'll need to buy an extra bit of hardware to read your viewing card.

Bear in mind that while many people, not just SageTV users, are doing/trying to do this, there is no Sky NDS Cam Available on the market.

You will also be breaching your T&Cs with Sky using their card outside of their box.

What will happen? In all probability nothing, but as long as you're aware of which side of the line you're on, or how far you're stretching it...

Check the threads on this. You need a valid viewing card and sub, and a card reader. Many people are doing it.

Hi,

You can use hardware CAMs like the Diablo Wifi (I have two running perfectly) but you would also need a FireDTV tuner in order to use in a native capacity with SageTV, the other alternative is to use DVBLogic which is a software solution that can be used with software CAMs such as ACAMD (I also have four of these running great) you would need a card reader and some time to read up about how to set it all up to work together.

For info I am running Windows 7 64 bit and OSCAM.

Good luck,

David
