March 2011 switchover

Hi Folks,

The East switches over in March and April.

I have had a stable SageTV for the last 4 months in terms of channels and guide.

I know refining channels in Sage is painful.

What techniques should I be using to make the channel switchover painless in the UK?

Cheers

I'm relying on a large crate of beer, no worries then

Are the channels all going to move?

I thought that Norwich was in the East (you can't be much further east & still in the UK anyway:-) & DSO isn't until November here http://www.ukfree.tv/shutdowndetail.php?tx=TG237098

Love the beer comment; maybe Whisky is better

Its the Sandy Heath transmitter in Cambs thats switching over in march and April.

I think it's some channels but not sure.

I know I can export my channels now and know how to manually change frequencies. Just don't want to open a can of worms.

Frequency files were hard to find last time and so I did it from scratch in sage and then edited the channels manually. Do not want to do that again

I could never get to grips with the .FRQ editing procedure, I always ended up making a mistake. Instead, I tend to run updated channel scans instead of full ones which will tell you when a channel has moved physical address and offer to remap it

When it comes to my region I will probably run scanchannelsdba to get new frequencies then just edit a single .frq and copy the contents to the .frq's for my other tuners.

That's a good idea Starfire but one issue.

I have never managed to get scandbachannels working with my HDHomeruns. It timesout or simply does not find any channels.

No idea why, sage channel scan finds them all?

Just found out that switchover is 2 phased. Switch off BBC 2 analogue on March 30th then the rest on April 11th.

Bit confused as I already have freeview HD on my Sony Bravia so not sure if I will need to retune anything at this stage
