Jittery Playback of super bowl
I experienced very jittery playback of the super bowl last night (of course right?) It really looked like poor signal or something like that.
I am running the latest Sage version 7 with a 2nd gen extender. The recording is device is a hdhomerun via antenna. While the super bowl was recording I was able to tune the 2nd hdhomerun tuner to another HD signal without any trouble. I watch this channel quite often and have never experience this before. Including the news this morning. I at first thought it might be do to some difference between the Local content (like the news) vs the National Feed (super bowl) But my wife (okay me too) watches American Idol every week without any trouble. Any ideas as to what could have caused this? |

That's interesting, because I was also watching via HDHomeRun OTA, and was noticing what fantastic PQ I was getting. I could not identify any compression artifacts, which was making me wonder if Fox and/or the local stations were using less signal compression than usual.
fwiw, I was using an HD300 extender...

I too noticed the superior picture quality (when it wasn't jumping around)
I wonder if they were using a higher bit rate or something that maybe made it do this? |

Just an update, I recorded and watched The Chicago Code on Fox tonight without any hint of a problem. And I haven't so much as restarted my HD200 let alone the Server.
Really darn strange if you ask me. |

Just wanted to chime in here... The Superbowl was the first time in a long time where I had the screen freeze up while watching. A simple skip back, skip forward reset playback to normal. But, it was kind of embarrassing after bragging about how cool Sage is to my buddies.
I wish I had the Superbowl recorded. I'd love to see the quality level of the video file.
