No "Previous Channel" Button on HD300?

I notice that there is no "previous channel" button on the HD300 remote control like there is for the HD100. I have been using a Logitech Harmony One for my remote control, using the HD100 setup, for controlling my new HD300 media extender, which works.

But it seems strange that there is no "previous channel" button on the HD 300 remote control. It has been replaced by a "DVD Menu" button.

Am I missing something?

I started a thread earlier that asked the same question. As a result, I reprogramed the "DVD Menu" to "Previous Channel." Having done that, I now wish I had the "DVD Menu" button back. Both buttons are necessary to my viewing habit(s). The Remote simply needs one more button... all other existing ones are irreplacable.

Remapping the commands using the SageTV software works great for the HD300 remote control, but not as easy for the Harmony One. I guess I can first remap the "previous channel" command to the HD300 remote then use the Harmony One Learn Command and transfer the "previous channel" command from remote to remote.

It is too bad that the list of assignable commands in the Harmony One command list for the HD300 doesn't include all the possibilities (like "previous channel").

It does. Look for where the commands can be customized for the LCD screen. Put the Previous Channel command on the first page of the LCD. You can have multiple pages.

I'll tell you a secret....the 'Abc123' and 'Pause' button both are actually linked to the Pause command (but they each have their own unique code). So you can go ahead and remap the 'Abc123' button as long as you remember Pause does the same thing.

There's your extra button.

Yes - you can " Put the Previous Channel command on the first page of the LCD," but only after you add " Previous Channel" to the list of commands. The Logitech Hamony One list for the HD100 has the "Previous Channel" listed, but the HD300 does not. The only way I can figure out how to add it to the list of commands for the HD300 is by an IR transfer.

Am I missing something here?

Then use the HD100 remote layout from the Harmony database - they use the exact same IR codes; the HD300's remote just changed a few buttons in order to add the ones that can learn a few TV commands.

Terrific!! That gave me exactly what I wanted. Thank you.

(Are there any other "secrets" we should know about?)

Yep - that is exactly what I did, but from Big Gerr's post I thought maybe there was some secret stash of extra commands hidden in the Harmony One's Command Page setup

l think Logitech is remiss in not including ALL the Sage HD300 commands in their drop down lists for the Harmony One.
