Latest update killed Phoenix Core Services

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting Sage between each, rebooting the PC. What's next? Taking a flamethrower to it?

Maybe providing more information might help.

Like what?

I did a forum search and it didn't provide much info.

Are there any log files I could look at that might tell me what the hitch is?

Like what is the problem. ie, is there an error. Does sagetv say the plugin failed to load. Does sagetv even start. Is it automated lookups that is failing... is it manal lookups that is failing... In other words more than just "it's not working". I've had a few cutbacks lately and I had to let my clairvoyant go.

THere is a log file, sagetv_0.txt that might be of help if this is a plugin not loading type of error... or you can check the logs/phoenix.log if this is a phoenix metadata/fanart error. At this point I just know that you had phoenix installed, and now it doesn't work... beyond that, I had no ideas as what isn't working.

Do you have the web ui installed? Is it working? Is that what you are saying isn't working now? if it's working maybe you can do Help -> Create Support Request to create a zip file of your log files, and email them.

On the Installed Plugins Screen within Sage (which fires up fine) there is yellow text next to Phoenix Core Services that says "Failed".

The BMT plugin does not indicate that.

Video files that used to have the metadata displayed, no longer do.

The only plugins that I'm running are what BMT installs.

I'll take a look at those log files you mentioned and see if they provide any more info.

I haven't checked the Web UI, but I will now.

Thanks.

Thank you for more information. I have this installed on my system, and it working, so I'm fairly confident the download files are ok. Something you can try, if you haven't already, is to fully remove BMT, Phoenix Core Service, and Phoenix API.

Restart SageTV

Then Install BMT (which will also install phoenix core / api as well)

Restart SageTV

If you still have a failed status, then send me the sagetv_0.txt log file, since sagetv will have logged why it failed.

I have seen the odd case where sagetv fails to extract the plugin correctly, so completely removing it will sometimes resolve the issue.

I've tried the full removal of all plugins, restarting Sage, and then installing just BMT, to no avail.

I'm traveling until next week so I'll have to send the log file when I return.

Thanks for the help.

Sure... when you get back... restart sagetv and then send me logs.... I'm guessing we are now dealing with a jar related issue. Did you upgrade to Sage7 or is this a fresh install?

It was a fresh install of Sage 7.1.5 beta from maybe two weeks ago I think.

I'm broke also.

worked before update,

Jetty Web server, Phoenix Core, and Queue Importer are all showing Failed.
I'd be happy to send logs. Didn't find a sagetv_0.txt though.

Tried uninstall/reinstall of plugins. No joy.

Since you have multiple plugins that are failing... none of them depend on each other, then you some larger issues as work here.

Uninstall the plugins and restart the sagetv server. Then pick one plugin, say, jetty web server, and see if you can install that one only.

If that works, then move on to the next plugin.

The most likely problem if you are seeing multiple failures is invalid JAR files. So if you can't get it working, uninstall your plugins and then post a list a jar files from the JARs directory.

Some other random bits of info.
Win7 pro x64 - just pulled in all the updates.
Sage is running in service mode

I also had an alert with an alert of a missing file associated with sagex-api.
Gonna just try a reboot and see how it feels.

certainly the missing file alert could be something... many of these plugins depend on sagex-api, so if for some reason that plugin got screwed up, that would affect a lot. It sounds like the sagex-plugin didn't get extracted correctly.

to enable debug, shutdown sagetv server, and edit the file, Sage.properties and add the following line to the end of the file.

Code:
debug=true
Then start sagetv again. You should have a log file called sagetv_0.txt in the sagetv home are (ie the same folder level where the JARs folder exists). That log file will have more information as to why a plugin is failing.

fixed

Mine was also broke - I kept getting a please restart and it never restarted from the client (hd-300). I restarted the service on my homeserver and still had the same dialog box pop up stating i had to restart now or later. Everytime i restarted it just hung on the client. So I used the old pull the power cord from the hd-300 and restart and viola mine is now working with the latest and greatest.

Hope this helps someone else as I was not happy about trying to remove and reinstall plugins.

Thanks for the great plug in.

hmm. I'm back to working now.
Maybe adding that debug line scared the problem away

Not sure what solved it though.
I had removed all my plugins and libraries.
Installed the phoenix fanart plug in.
then installed BMT and we're working.

Something weird though. there were 2 alerts that that Phoenix core had been updated. one at 12:45AM this morning and a later in the AM. both with the same version number.

Never did see the sagetv_0.txt file though.

Anyway. Thanks for the help. This is a great plug-in!
