Auto-switch to 24fps for playback?
So how are people making the switch to 24fps when the content supports that frame rate? I would really like this to happen automatically when I watch a blu-ray or dvd that has this frame rate. I think reclock will work, but the last time I used reclock with sage it didn't work so well.

This is a bit off topic but funny you should mention that:
The Hobbit Filming at 48fps "Peter Jackson has announced via his Facebook page that The Hobbit is being shot at 48 frames per second, ameliorating the '3D headaches' that many viewers have complained of in the last few boom-years for the format. Film has been shot and projected at 24fps since the 1920s, with the exception of Douglas Trumbull's 60fps 'ShowScan' format, used for the Universal Back To The Future ride, amongst others. Jackson himself predicts that the widespread adoption of 48fps workflow could not only improve the 3D but also the general cinematic experience, though it may earn itself some backward-looking critics. But until digital principal photography completely usurps celluloid, this may be good news for Kodak, who now have even more reason to lament the death of Stanley Kubrick."

Interesting, but I don't think it will catch on. I still think 3d will disappear...again. I'm one who gets a headache after about 30 seconds of 3d viewing. It has been a while since I've tried watching anything, but my brain doesn't like being tricked into a fake 3d experience. At least he's filming in 3d instead of converting to 3d, but still.
Back on topic: It would seem that reclock will do what I wan't. I just want to see if anyone has had success using it with sage.

I would be interest in seeing what successes people had with this. I tried the Sage Graph plugin with rather limited success. It does switch to 24hz for most videos recorded at that rate. However, most of the time the Sage window disappears. The client is still running and sometimes the audio starts playing. But all I see is the desktop and I have to forcefully kill the client and restart it as there is no way to get the window back.
I think Sage should introduce a feature that automatically switches the refresh rate for those displays that support it. They were able to do it for the extenders so it should not be that hard to get this done for the clients as well. I realize those are two different pieces of hardware, but still there should be a way. After all, mpc can do that. |

Yes, that is exactly what I am seeing. I tried Sage Graph Plugin and Reclock with the same results, i.e. the sage window disappearing (the process is still alive though). I put in a support request last night; not sure if that gets anywhere...

I just got a response form Sage Support: it is not currently supported but on their list to look into for later. Whatever that means.

I'll take that as a someday. They are pretty good about adding features, so who knows?
