Good Furniture links for TV / Entertainment cabinets?

Does anyone have any good links for TV / Entertainment center furniture?

A wall unit might be ok for me, but it needs to be furniture, not built in.
I want it to be at least 30" D (yes I know that's big), and probably 55-70+" W.

The issue is that my HTPC/Server needs to be in the same general area as all my other Home theater stuff. I want to put it all into a cabinet (that I can probably vent myself), but my PC is a large tower, and my Pioneer receiver is also quite deep as well.

I'm struggling through google trying to find anything useful. . .

Almost all furniture stores sell oodles of this stuff now. My wife worked at both Bassett Furniture and Ethan Allen over the last 5 years or so, and both places, during that period, brought in more and more. The boom of flatscreen TVs has created a niche market for not only cabinets that hold the TVs in them, but also credenza-type stuff that sit below a wall-hung TV and hold all the STBs, video game systems, etc.

The big questions are, what is your price range, and what is the decor level in the room? You can easily spend $2000 at a place like Ethan Allen for something formal, or you can get something modern and lightly-built at Ikea for under $100.

I want something wood, but still relatively comtempary/modern. Nothing to ornate. . . mission style with some modifications or something like that.

I am looking to spend anywhere from 700-2500, maybe more depending on quality etc.

The big problem I'm having, as I said is it needs to be deep. And I'd really like it if the back had some sort of easy open access to get to cables and such. . .

There is this custom site: http://www.pegrack.com/catalog.php?category=31

But of course since I live in SoCal, shipping might be an issue.

http://www.racksandstands.com/

I bought my audio rack through these guys...went with tempered glass (75 lbs per shelf) and metal. Very high quality, good cable management and shipping was free. Box was little damaged but everything was ok. Very heavy and nice looking rack. Got it on sale for $250 ish been a while though.

Have to weed through their stuff see if something catches your eye.

These guys did an amazing custom media cabinet for me (and I had some *crazy* requirements ). Definitely not mission style but very modern.

Are those vent slots in the stair treads? Doesn't that encourage dirt (from your shoes or socks) to fall into the area below every time someone uses the stairs?

Nonetheless, I think you win for "most original" AV cabinet!

(sorry for the threadjack, Sean)

No worries on the threadjack. . .

But keep em coming. It sounds more and more like I'm gonna have to go custom . . .
If anyone has any recs for folks in SoCal, that'd be helpful as well.

where in SoCal? I ordered mine from a store on Carlota in Laguna Hills - extra depth for me, but only 25" - paid under $1000 for a nice unit

The place is called "In your Office", on Carlotta in Laguna Hills, and they custom order from a place in Temeculla I think, who will make custom changes to their stock designs and measurements. That's what I had done - took a 21" to a 25" depth to house my big Yamaha receiver

http://4inyouroffice.com/

and it was furniture grade, since it had to pass WAF - not that cheap Bush stuff from Best Buy. Sliding, beveled glass doors, pull out drawers and movable shelves, with an area on the back side bottom for stashing my Tripp-Lite conditioner - several finishes were available also.

bought this one I think, in a distressed-cream finish
http://4inyouroffice.com/showcaselis...tem_id=2004387
maybe 18 months ago for under $900 with tax
you could remove all the shelves on one side to fit a tower - I suggest a proper HTPC case, however, cause you'll have an easier time finding furniture to house it

Lol yeah i can't switch now to a proper case. . . the machine has 4 optical drives and 4 harddrives and a fairly decent video card (cause I play games and stuff on it too). . .

I do think about it from time to time, but i figure I can buy the furniture that will fit a tower and my stereo, and then if i get something smaller for the HTPC so be it. . .
