HD300 Output Question

The FAQ says, "Either Component or HDMI can be active for HD output, but not both at the same time."

If you connected a TV via component, and another TV via HDMI, and in the setup wizard you set video output to HDMI, but then turned off the HDMI TV, will video transmit through the component cables? Or would you have to completely unplug the HDMI and/or change the wizard settings to component output?

Just curious. I have something brewing in my head and I'd like to know before I purchase a gadget.

As far as I know, it outputs on whichever output you have selected, whether or not there's anything connected to it or turned on. (Except that the composite video output is always active.)

However you can easily switch output modes with a button on the remote. You don't need to reboot the device or go back into setup.

Yes, it should work the way you want it to (this was a welcome change in behavior for me from the HD200). I have both the component and HDMI outputs hooked up to my AVR with different TVs hooked up to the HDMI and component outputs of the AVR. When I switch between the inputs on the AVR, either the component or HDMI output are active on the HD300 based on what is connected to the AVR input. This requires no change in the HD300 setup, extra power cycling, or even switching output modes.

I was looking at this: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

It has VGA and component inputs, and HDMI output. My thought was that I could connect my laptop (for streaming internet stuff that I can't get in Sage), and the component from my HD300, and connect the HDMI output from this box to a new TV. The HDMI out from the HD300 would still go into my main TV. Analog audio from the HD300 would go to a house audio system, so I wouldn't have to worry about direct audio to the second TV when using the component side of this box.

I realize that I would not be able to watch both TVs from the HD300 simultaneously, but it would still suffice for what I am wanting to do.
