The HD200/HD300 can both play mkv files. If your using a PC as a head end, it can as well, assuming you have the hardware to drive it(1080p mkv's can take a decent machine) and the correct codecs installed.

ok, heres my issue. I can stream dvd's from pc to extenders just fine. decided to take the plunge into blu ray. wanted to try a ful rip and one as a 1080p mkv to see if i could tell a diff. cannot get the mkv to play on the extender or pc (both will play on pc using JRMC) the full blu ray plays on the pc in sage pretty good however stutters terribly on the extender hd 200. i have a gigabit network so would not think bandwidth would be an issue.

Playing MKVs

Which codec should I be using for MKVs? I'm on Sage 7 on Win 7 and i tried using the default MS Codecs which led to some of the MKVs playing and others showing up as all GREEN.

I tried using FFDShow w/ DXVA and I got again, some MKVs played and this time the GREEN MKV's showed up with tons of artifacts

Last night I tried Arcsoft TMT5 and that reduced the artifacts but they are still present and it seems from time to time the video will just hang while the audio keeps playing.

I know these videos play fine because i also tried them in XBMC and they worked with no problems and used very little CPU.

Have you updated the firmware? I've been using the HD200 to play blu ray ri mkv files for at least a year, or more. Currently I'm running the latest beta on both the server and HD200, and it works great.

Have you tried ripping the BD as m2ts and playing it on your HD200? I have many ripped BDs, in m2ts that play smoothly start to finish and my network is not Gigabit because my router is not Gigabit. I am not running the latest beta firmware on my HD200 either. It has played full BD rips smoothly since I got it almost two years ago.

It would also help if more was known about your setup. Maybe you could update your signature.
