Migrating from WMC/Diamond to SageTV/Diamond

Having spent countless hours massaging files, directories and gathering meta-data just so that I get the fan art, background art, movie descriptions, etc, etc, etc to be perfect under WMC/MB/Diamond, I was overjoyed to see Diamond had a StageTv presence already established.

Seems like my joy might be shorted lived if I can not figure out a way to convert my existing meta-data files to work with sage.

The current files have been generated with MCM and work flawlessly with WMC/MB/Diamond but so far, the only things I have been able to get is cover art and background art to show up in STV.

Am I going to have to redo my entire movie collection yet again or is there someway to utilize the MCM mymovies.xml files under STV/Diamond?

Thanks

Just to clarify, "Sagetv Diamond UI mod and Theme" is not officially related to the "Media Browser Diamond Theme" in any way, but it does borrow some styling etc from it.

Not sure the best way to bring your meta data from WMC/mymovies, you will need BMT (Batch Metadata Tools) to fetch your TV fanart/metadata so you might want to just use it take care of movies as well. PluckyHD will be the one to best answer this one.

Thanks for the response and the clarification.

With Diamond's flexibility of allowing for different background and folder file names (nice touch) I was able to reuse the art I already have. The only outstanding is the meta-data. Assuming Diamond (STV) does support some type of meta-data file, where can I find the details of what that file needs to look like?

If you where using media browser there is not easy way. BMT is the only way right now for tv. Mymovies can work for movies but not media browser.

And glad you liked the folder names that was just for xbmc and wmc users mostly

That explains it then, me still being a wmc user and all

The goal I had getting involved with sage was to replicate the wmc experience I have in my main viewing area to the other TVs I own but with the caveat that I did not want to have to give up anything in the presentation of my movie collection...

Since diamond has already implemented functionality to support wmc users I gota ask. Any plans to take this to the next level?

You have the backgrounds and the cover arts in place. Would seem to be a natural next step to extend Diamond to be able to read the existing XML files to obtain information on the director, actors, movie description, etc.

There must be a significant number of people like yourself that has walked away from wmc and many more like myself that are trying to. Diamond could become that rosetta stone needed to simply read existing xml files generated from the different meta gathers into a common format.

Think in terms of a single interface with many implementations with each supporting a different xml format. Diamond could supply the interface and control the development. Individuals could submit mappings of their favorite xml meta data file which Diamond could verify and roll out as they approved them...

just a thought from someone that has a vested interest in a add on like this

Been a while since my WMC media browser days but I already implemented mymovies as they allowed me access to their database. If I am not mistaken the last time I use media browser they copied mymovies xmls format. If that is still the case bmt can read those and import the data into sage database.
