can't use sage tv, vision impaired

Hello there.
You might remember some posts I made back in 2006, I was trying to run sage tv but I kept getting java errors. I was able to fix up these errors by putting the java access bridge files in the sage tv main folder.
However, I was unable to read sage tv's interface with my text to speech screen reader which is called jaws for windows, it just thinks the screen is blank.
Well so 5 years have passed and I thought I might give the program another try, but no, it's still just as inaccessible.
I was hoping against hope that there would be some other way I could use the program. can anyone help?
I've already tried several rival products
the first one which I have been using for 5 years has been discontinued.
The second program has an inaccessible graphical interface but at the same time, it does have a local web admin tool that works pretty well with text to speech, but the last version was released 6 months ago, and development of the consumer version has stopped.
I have tried other open source and freeware alternatives but each one has a drawback. Either it doesn't support my TV card, or I am unable to navigate the interface with my screen reader because it uses images on the screen instead of text.
Can sage tv be made accessible for blind or vision impaired people?
Thanks.

I doubt if there is much chance of direct support from Sage. However there is a third party party Web based user interface for Sage that may meet your needs. Here is a link to the thread concerning it which is quite long. http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8426
It has been around since 2003 so you may already know about it.
Here is an another link that gives information about installing it. http://tools.assembla.com/sageplugin...erverV2onJetty

What version of Sage are you using? The User interface for Version 7 has changed a lot. But Version 7 makes the installing of this program much easier. How impaired are you? Can you watch Shows or just listen to them? Sage is displaying more graphics that show channel logos and the beginning scene of a show which may help you but I doubt if it would solve all of your issues. What is it that you really need access to in Sage to make it useable. I am also vision impairded but not by much, I get by with the windows magnifier.

wow. looks complicated, but I still can't install it or use it because it requires access to the sage tv's setup screens which I am unable to use because jaws for windows can't read it.
Looks like we're back to square one again. damn!

I do not think the web interface will let you do things like adding tuners or setting them. It is more a manager to let you set new recordings or view what Sage is doing. I do not think it would even let you start viewing of a show. The output is readable by jaws for windows but I think it would be much too busy for you use. The screen has way too many links. The Sage user interface is mostly written is a language call studio and can be modified. I am not sure if it can output simple test. But I think you best hope would be to ask in SageTV Customizations area of the forum. I think what you want is a very simple test based interface for Sage. There are lots of programmers writing their own interface and someone may be able to provide you with what you need. I tried to find a single screen in Sage that output simple text, but could not. So the biggest problem is whether studio is capable of output text. I am sure it can be done but I am not aware of the best method.
