SageTV on Unraid server

Hi,

I'm currently using my HD300 in media player mode. It's been ok, but I want to try out the SageTV server software to try some plugins, improved UI, etc.

My NAS is an Unraid box, so I wanted to try the server software on this box.

Has anyone tried to install SageTV MC software on an UnRaid box? Is it doable?

First off. Do you already have a licensed copy of SageTV? (linux version)

If not, you might as well stop now since they are not selling anymore licenses.

Otherwise, good luck. I'm windows based for Sage and wouldn't be much help on the Linux side, although I do have unraid server for storage.

Well, thanks for the heads up on the SageTV license issue. I thought that they were available.

The idea of having 2 servers online (unraid + Windows) is quite unattractive, though.

Don't know if I can run a XP virtual machine off unRaid. Any ideas?

On the UnRaid forums, there are a couple threads dealing with Virtualizations. You might want to check them out. I haven't done any playing with them.

You do know that Windows SageTV licenses are also no longer available, right?

Also unraid if installed using the prebuilt binaries is extremely stripped down. Do it might now function how you want if using those binaries. It is also built on slackware so u could certainly do a full slackware install, install sage, and the load up the unraid modules...

Pretty much nothing, at least brand new. You did see Jeff's announcement, didn't you?

Well, I didn't see it, I didn't even know it.

So, I guess I'll try the software out and see what happens next.

I've been trying to get the latest Unraid Sage Docker running. (Stuckless Sage Server-Java10) Are you saying its not going to work without a license?

Thanks

This is an extremely old thread. SageTV became open-source software quite a number of years back, so a license is no longer needed. However, you will need a license for unRAID.
