Any way to get subtitles for MKVs through directshow?

Since it's not possible to get subtitle support for bluray discs, ripped folders, or ISOs using SageTV Windows client, I was hoping to at least convert the disc to MKV and display subtitles via a subtitle directshow filter; such as the one from MPC-HC standalone filters.

I'm not sure how, but a friend told me he somehow managed to get subtitles to show under all directshow players; including SageTV (with demux turned off). However, he said he didnt know how to turn it off for movies that dont need subtitles. He also said that it only seemed to work under VMR9; not, EVR.

Is there any here with the expertise to get subtitles working under EVR for MKV movies that requires subtitles?

I am sooooo close!! I can now get subtitles in all my directshow players outside sageTV. Unfortunately, sageTV seems to manipulate the system filtergraph even though I have the sageTV media player set to use dshow components and using the same demux as I do below:
