Play all MKVs through MPC?

Hi! Is there a way, like in WMC & MediaBrowser, to play all MKVs through MPC as default? My reasoning is, i have everything working perfectly with MPC-HC (LAV, etc.), so if I select a file on my Sage Client that is a MKV, it could launch MPC, play the file and when it ends, Sage gets focus back?

I can do this on an individual basis with the external play pluggin, but for the macro it would be much easier to have all MKVs play this way.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you ever used studio? If not you may want to start learning.

My question is what issues do you have playing .mkv's in sage? That is one of the few formats I've never had issues with.

I have not used Studio yet, although I've downloaded the documentation and started reading up on it. I'm new to using a Client, I've previously just used an HD-200/300.

I left the Sage settings at "default" for all video types under config and the result was, everything looked horrible (blocky, lots of noise, etc.) I could take the time tweaking it (which is what I'll probably do), but I didn't know if there was a way to just have MKVs launch in MPC (which I had previously tweaked).

No big deal, I'll tinker, that's half the fun, right?

As a side, what have you found to be the optimal settings for your client? 80% of my MKVs are BluRay rips using MakeMKV. All the Disney movies as they come out are bought, ripped and the disc put away.

Thanks!

Well, ffdshow works for everything I've thrown at it. Also go into the registry and disable the internal sage splitter for mkv's. it is in frey technology in the wow64 section of hklm/software if you use 64bit windows. The key is enablesteamdemux=0 is what it should be set to. That will help quite a bit.
