Red LED indicator for recording?

Wasn't sure which section to ask this question but here goes.

Is there any way to configure a red LED to turn on when Sagetv is recording a scheduled event? I realize its just eye candy, but its something I'd like to add to the PC if there was an easy way to do so.

Not entirely easy to do. for starters, you've gotta have a way to drive an LED from the computer. Could be done from a parallel port or a serial port. Then you'd need a way to find out if sage is recording. Can be done via sagex api's or the web interface. Then you'd need a program to check the status, and turn on the LED, checking periodically.

Of course, then you'll decide to turn on intelligent recording at some point, and make all the effort useless.. :-)

Not sure if this helps, but if you use HDHR's, they have an LED that comes on when a tuner is in use. At least the previous model does. I can tell when Sage is recording, and what city it is recording from by the LEDs that are on. The LEDs are green though, if that makes a difference.
