I'll miss "House". It's still very entertaining and hasn't jumped the shark.

So I got curious and looked it up on IMDB. I did not realize, but the "jump the shark" episode was the third of a three-part season opener of "Happy Days" in season 5. But the show ran eleven seasons! Hard to believe that they "jumped the shark" at the beginning of season 5, and yet lasted 6 more seasons.
Of course, back then, there were only 2 or 3 other channels to compete against for viewers....

House seems to have followed the same theme with just about every episode. I would have renamed the show "Let's kill them with science for 42 minutes and then save their life with a WAG (Wild A__ Guess)!" Of course making the central character such a wad probably didn't help. I would have watched the show if at least once per episode someone kicked the cane out from under him. ![]()

I found the characters and their behavior interesting. The medical/science stuff was not important at all and in most cases it was absolutely irrelevant to the story line.
My favorite episode was where the really brilliant guy poisoned himself on purpose to lower his IQ because he was miserable when he was smart and happy when he was dumb. ![]() The last episode was a let down. Hugh Laurie should stick to acting and not directing. (I think he directed that one.)

The finder has been one of my favorite shows this year! We're working our way through the series, and it's excellent. I just don't see how this is being dropped.
Of course, I loved Firefly and the Lone Gunmen too! |

So who was disappointed - or, maybe, who WASN'T - at the wrap-up of The Finder? It almost struck me as angry - like, "fine, you cancel this great show, we'll give you a really crappy ending because we don't care to make an effort to give you a good one."

This often happens with shows that don't get canceled until after the last episode is already shot and ready to air. The most infamous ones I can recall are John Doe (that cliffhanger still kills me to this day) and Journeyman.
Some shows/writers are able to do a good season ender that happens to work well as a series ender. Missing is another example of a good cliff-hanger season ending but at least all the other loose ends were wrapped up well so I didn't feel as ripped off with the very last episode.

Agreed. Even if the episode was written/shot before they knew it would be canceled, it was a poor Season ender let alone Series ender.

I often find that movies as well as tv shows have crappy endings. No matter how good the writing during the rest of the show is, the ending usually suffers. It's like they don't know what to do.
Examples: House, Lost, That 70's show, The Sopranos, lots of movies... Oh well. It sometimes isn't worth it to watch a show anymore. Especially when you get into it and it is pulled out from under you. Really annoying.
