Can't get Sage WHS to accept license
My WHS system drive recently blew up, and I had to do a fresh install. I realized yesterday that SageTV had stopped, and I couldn't start it. After a few minutes it occurred to me that I hadn't registered yet. However, I can't seem to get it to take my Sage V7 license... it keeps telling me invalid and not licensed. Although somewhere along the way it started up again and it says "Trial Mode (20 days left)."
So, I'm not sure if: 1) I still should be able to use the license (thinking that I should) 2) If I did something to make the trial time reset (I didn't actually look at that line at first... maybe it always said 20 days and there was some other reason Sage wouldn't run) 3) If I really need to register, or Sage just has set things now where the trial never expires. Any help appreciated. |

Did you get your v7 from upgrading from a previous version? You will need to enter that key first. If you use the exe's in the forum they work with existing v5 and v6 licenses. Make sure you have the key and the user name associated with the license.

I've tried both my original V6 key as well as my V7 key, and neither work.
Don't know if it has anything to do with it, but right before my original WHS install died completely I managed to backup over the SageTV folder and then just copied it back over after a fresh install of WHS and SageTV v7. I submitted a request for tech help... hope they're still supporting. Wondering if I need to do a fresh SageTV install, register, then copy the backed up folder back. Well, I have 15 days left so I'll wait to hear back hopefully from the Sage team. Thanks |

Make sure you're not trying to use a client license if you have any to register the server, or trying to register it with a placeshifter license.

I seem to be experiencing the exact same problem. I recently had to rebuild my WHS v1 machine after running out of sys drive space. I entered my V6 license which was accepted, but obviously isn't valid with V7. It says I need to upgrade to V7 within the trial period. I enter what I think is my V7 upgrade license, but it doesn't take it.
Does a V7 upgrade license have 10 sections of 5 digit numbers starting with 000016-BGPZHH-*****-*****-*****-*****-*****-*****-*****-***** That is the number I think is my upgrade license number (the email syas it is SageTV License Keys, but doesn't specifically say V7). Thanks Brian

You also need to make sure you have entered the owners name exactly as it is in that email also.

Just a follow up to my situation. When I started SageTV GUI, it would give me an error saying the license was old (v6) and not valid on the V7 install, but it never gave me an opportunity to enter in a new license. Sage support was able to figure out a way for me to be able to resister my version.
