Sage TV 3.0.1 with Virus or Trojan?
Hello Forum Friends,
I recently tried to reload Sage TV 3.0.1 that I got free with my Plextor TV100u usb video capture device. Two unfortunate things happened. 1. Zone alarm told me Sage Tv Lite had it installed a Trojan; I think AVG called it a virus -- Generic GU something or other. 2. It is asking for a registration Key. I have the original disc that came with my Plextor, and the software is on there, but it still asks for they key. I checked my emails because the software asks you to look for one, but I bought it in 2006, so if I had an email, it was lost. I don't remember needing a key in the past, but it was 5 years ago, so who knows. Maybe this trojan was supposed to communicate with SageTV and get my code? Probably not, but I do have a mystery here. Would be very grateful for help on either of these issues. I have a very old laptop now, and I want to just use it for a DVR. I can't use the freeware DVR's because they are not compatible with my Plextor. |

I've been using SageTV since version 1.4 and don't rememer there ever being a "lite" version, let alone one that came with a TV capture card.
Maybe posting a picture of the CD would trigger someone's memory, because I am drawing a blank.

To the OP, Sage probably wasn't installing a virus. I've seen false alarms like that from other software from the net. I think the tools software developers use to create upgradable free/reduced-functionality versions of software often trigger false alarms. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution for you. |

Switch to MS Security essentials, it'll clear up 90% of your false positive issues.

Sage still answers support emails. Open a ticket of you can't get it to work.
