You need what know as a DirecTV Cinema Connection Kit install which can be DirecTV DECA hardwire broadband adapter (DECABB1MR0-01) or DirecTV DECA2 hardwire broadband adapter (DCA2PR0-01) or DirecTV DECA2 wireless broadband adapter (DCAW1R0-01) which are cheap on ebay or If have HR34/44 DVR has the ability to act as a Cinema Connection Kit when you plug the Ethernet cable in to it.

cool, so I would only need to use 1 cinema connection kit with 4 H25's then? This is great news, because I can fit 2 H25's per rack space

That right you need 1 cinema connection kit
You may also want pickup a DirecTV Compatible Splitter (MSPLIT2R1-03)

Just to clarify, a receiver, or multiple receivers, like this:

http://www.amazon.com/DIRECTV-H24-De...tv+hd+receiver

can be purchased and used with a single Directv satellite dish, in conjunction with the HDPVR1212(one per STB, component + optical), and it can all be tuned in Sage via Ethernet connected directly into a switch on the home network?

If so, then you user has completely dodged any rental fee on the Directv receivers, is that right?

I just lost one of my H10 STBs.
They replaced it with the H24.
The H24 does not have optical out.
It appears I will need to buy a digital to Optical converter.

Or

I have a HDMI splitter to fix the tuning issues with HDMI so hopefully that will be stable with the new H24.
The splitter actually worked OK with the H10.

Incorrect. You will still need to have the box activated and then they will still charge for each extra "feed"

Sounds crazy I know but that will be the case. The days of Customer Owned devices where they do NOT charge the "lease" fee went away a long time ago.
In addition, beware of Used devices....if it is in their records from someone elses account and was not returned then they may or may not activate it.

Actually says so in the link you provided

Quote:
Product Features
May require 2 YEAR extension of contract, monthly fees will apply by DirectTV,
may also require to be activated as a "Leased Receiver" as per DirecTV policy change
About the ONLY reason I can see with buying a DirecTV receiver would be if you wanted a particular model or ensure it was New and not Refurbished. Otherwise you end up with what they have on the truck and a lot of times it is Refurbished ones from previous accounts.

Thanks for the clarification on that GW.

I just assumed when they said "monthly fees will apply" that it was a reminder that you would still have to pay the monthly fee for television service - I did not realize this meant they would charge you to use your own hardware.
