This is tempting because I just lost an old internal Hauppauge tuner recently died dropping me down to two tuners.

I've never had an HDHR before...

Can Sage + HDR Prime record Clear QAM channels without a CableCard?

Thanks,
Rick...

It can but in my case I cannot as all QAM channels are encrypted.

Just ordered one too! Great timing - I just got a letter from Comcast that the last few remaining clear QAM channels are going away in my area December 5.

I hate shelling out more $$ to Comcrap, but at least the cable cards are cheap ($1.99/mo), compared to their set top boxes.

Unfortunately, I can't get any OTA channels with a small indoor antenna. I may experiment with an attic or roof-mount antenna, otherwise my old HDHR and HVR-2250 tuners are about to become paperweights.

These are the prices in my area.

Cable Card (first card in device) $0.00
Cable Card (second card in same device) $1.50
Customer-owned Video Equipment Crdit $2.50

Yes, the HDHR Prime can record ClearQAM channels (if you have any). It cannot, however, record ATSC OTA broadcasts like the regular HDHR Dual can.

Love having two of these, even if only one has a cablecard. Until Comcast decides to encrypt all the QAM in my area, 3 cablecard and 3 QAM tuners covers all our needs.

Besides, in our area they want to charge for the additional cablecard (even though it is in another device) plus an additional digital outlet fee Nickle and diming all the way.....

Mine arrived today from Woot! Can't wait, because my first HDHR Prime works great but our household can't exist on only three tuners. First world problems, yes.

It would seem pretty clear SD is clearing out inventory, does this mean a 4 tuner model is about to be released?
